How Open Graph works

Six tags do the job

title, description, image, url, type, and site_name are all any modern platform needs. The generator emits them with proper attribute escaping.

Live preview, no guessing

The card renders from the same fields as the tags, so you see roughly what WhatsApp or Facebook will show — title, description, domain, and image.

Paste and refresh caches

Add the output to your page head, then run the platform's share test to bust the cached preview and confirm the final card.

Open Graph FAQ

What is Open Graph?

Open Graph is a protocol that lets any page describe itself via og: meta tags. WhatsApp, Facebook, X, and most other platforms read it and build the link preview from the title, description, and image you provide.

Why does the preview look different from the debugger?

Platforms cache aggressively. After changing tags, refresh the share link through the platform's debugger (for example Facebook's Sharing Debugger) to request a fresh scrape.

What size should the share image be?

1200×630px at a 1.91:1 ratio is the de-facto standard. Almost every platform supports it, and badly cropped previews are usually an off-ratio image.
